Leaving school at age 17 to pursue his passion, former Galena pirate, Scott Miller now travels the country with his three bandmates in a 15- passenger van named “The Yak Mobile”, making music, meeting new people, and sleeping in strangers’ homes along the way. The band’s name is Kayak Jones.

Scott has played guitar for most of his life, but being in a band takes it to a new level. “Playing in front of people every night has made me a better player overall,” says Scott. He also is heavily involved in the music writing process. Kayak Jones is “currently in the final stages of preparing our next EP expected [to come] out later this year.”

He misses “absolutely nothing…” about Galena High School. When he is not on tour, Scott occasionally meets with the band to discuss different things, record and plan tours, and write music. Scott is “very involved, specifically in writing guitar leads.”  In his free time, he has a job at Long Hollow Canopy Tours to supplement his income and also plans to continue snowboarding this winter.
His parents have helped play a role in Scott achieving his dream. “My parents support is truly insane,” he says. In the near future, Scott is anticipating another tour with the band, a new album being released, and a trip to Canada with the band.
