FFA continues tradition with second Live Cake Auction

One year ago, the Galena School District introduced Agriculture as a class. Along with this came the FFA program. This seemed like a no-brainer for a small rural town in the Midwest.
The introduction of this class and club has opened the eyes of many GHS students to the impact of agriculture. Currently, there are 58 students involved with the program.
The FFA does many fundraisers and activities to help students experience the importance of agriculture firsthand and to potentially influence future career choices. They have participated in competitions and attended many leadership conferences.
This fall, FFA members collected candy on Halloween to send to troops that are overseas. This “Trick or Treat for the Troops” was hugely successful and the friends and family of GHS members appreciated the candy they received.
Most recently, the club sold candles and popcorn to raise money for their chapter.
For the second year, Galena FFA is running the “FFA Live Cake Auction” at Galena High School. This will be held on January 23rd in between the boys basketball JV and varsity game.
GHS sports and clubs will be making cakes that can be bid on and sold to anyone. The proceeds will be split 40% to the Galena FFA and 60% to the club or team who made the cake.
The clubs and teams involved include: Art Club, GSA, Servant Leadership, Boys Basketball, Scholastic Bowl, Drama Club, Choir, Softball, Boys Track, Girls Track, and the Galena FFA. Please come out to support GHS!
