Led by Coach Greg Fleege, the Galena High School Boys Golf Team were the winners of the 2018 IHSA Class 1A Regional Golf Tournament.

The Pirates won their first regional title in 20 years on Tuesday, October 2 in tough conditions at the Galena Golf Club. They beat out runner-up Winnebago by three strokes, 332 – 335.

Senior, Tyler Moran, led the Pirates with a 79 to finish in third place overall. Senior Evan Kruse followed in fifth place with an 80. Senior Cody Allendorf shot an 84 to finish in ninth place and senior Jack Einsweiler rounded out the scoring with an 89. Seniors Kade Timmerman and Jack Dregne also participated for the Pirates and will advance to the IHSA Sectional Tournament in Oregon, IL on Monday, October 8.

This has been an outstanding year for the Pirates as they also brought home the NUIC Tournament Championship last week. Good Luck to the boys as they continue in the state series.
