Galena Pirates played Warren Warriors on February 2, 2019 . In the first quarter both teams came out slow. For the Pirates points were scattered between the players. Corrina Noble ‘21 made a three pointer and Maggie Furlong ‘22, Lizzy Eaton ‘20, Sami Wasmund ‘20 each made two pointers. Gracie Wubben made both of her free throws. Giving the Pirates the lead at the end of the quarter, 11-2.

In the second quarter the game got interesting, with both teams coming out strong and ready to play. Wasmund really pushed herself making eight points for the Galena Pirates. Not only did Wasmund excel in this quarter so did Furlong and Kate Moran ‘22, each making three pointers. The Pirates got nineteen points and Warriors scored fifteen. Making the score 30-17 with the Pirates in the lead.

With great teamwork the Pirates scored a whopping twenty points in the third quarter. All players stepped up their game and most scores.

Because Senior Night was rescheduled this game was Wahlberg’s night. In the fourth quarter Anna Walberg ‘19 was put into the game and made the only three pointer of the quarter. “We all did our best to make sure that Walburg got the best senior night possible,” Corrina Noble stated “we really wanted to give her a chance to score and feel like a star.” She was a star after making that shot!

The final score was 58-41 and the Pirates leaving with the victory! Join the Pirates at their first regional game on Monday.
