The boys basketball team took on the West Carroll Thunder Wednesday Feb 6. It was a hard fought battle by both teams, but the Pirates came out victorious with a 10 point win.

Senior Cody Allendorf led the charge for the Pirates with 15 points, followed closely by freshman Ethan Hefel and senior Conner Einsweiler, both with 14.

The Pirates had a rough first half, and they went into the locker room down by three. After a slight scolding by coach Matt Weinen the Pirates came back out ready for battle. The score stayed close for most of the third quarter, and Galena went into the fourth quarter down by two, 33-35.

The Pirates come out hot in the fourth and scored a quick four points, but the Thunder answered back with a big three pointer to go back up by one. The Pirates then went on to score 13 straight. West Carroll mad a bucket late in the fourth, but the game was all but over.

Galena came out with a ten point victory 40-50. The Pirates advance to 10-13 overall and 6th in the conference rankings, and the Thunder move to 3-16, and are currently last place in the conference.

The Pirates will take on the River Ridge Wildcats on Saturday, February 9th for their next game.
