Sprinting for Success

The Galena/River Ridge/ East Dubuque girls track team won the meet on Tuesday, April 16, against Le-WinPerl City Girls, Forreston/ Polo, and Ashton (A. Franklin Center). The girls won with a total of 292.00 points.

Sammi Digman 19’ got first place in the second final heat and in the final for the 300 meter hurdles. Digman also got first place in final heat 2 and in the final for the 100 meter hurdles. “It feels great to finally be accomplishing something I’ve been working for awhile. It’s really cool to be helping out the team by getting more points,” she said.

Morgan Wills 19’ and Lizzy Eaton’s 20’ relay teams won first place for the 800 meter, 400 meter, and 1600 meter relay. “I am super happy with how we are doing this year and I’m looking forward to our conference a sectional meets,” she said.

Kate Moran 21’ won second in her 800 meter relay run with a time of 2 minutes and 42 seconds. She also got first with her relay team coming in first for the 3200 meter relay. “I am so happy at how hard I have been pushing myself this season and I am looking forward to see what will happen with the rest of the season,” she said.

The girls will have their next home meet at River Ridge High School on April 29 starting at 4:00 pm. Go Pirates!
