Junior Sami Wasmund makes a routine fly out deep in the outfield to save a run, and close out a long inning for the Pirates.

On Tuesday, April 24, the Lady Pirate softball team took on the conference leading Eastland Cougars. The Pirates gave it their all and put up a decent fight, but fell short in the end of the game. The Pirates lost 6-0.

The Pirates played a pretty solid game only having five errors over the course of the game. The game was a tough battle, but the Pirates were never able to really hit the ball. The Cougar’s pitcher Emma Norton threw a one hitter, and all around pitched a very solid game

Eastland was able to pretty steadily get hits, but the Pirate defense was fairly good at getting three outs with leaving runners on the bases. Despite the tough Pirate defense, the Cougars were still able to get six runs.

“We are really improving, and each game we are getting better in better. We are very close to breaking through that seal, and start getting wins. I know we can get there, and I think we might be a pretty dangerous team come regional time,” said Samantha Stoffregen ‘19.

The Pirates will play their next game on Friday, April 26. They will be facing the Stockton/Warren girls in a make-up game due to a previous cancelation. The game will be a JV and Varsity game at home for the Pirates, and it will start at 4:30 pm.
