Pirates Fall in High Scoring Battle

The Lady Pirate softball team lost in a close, high scoring, affair. The girls took on their friends from the east, Warren/Stockton, and they lost by a score of 10-8. The game took place at Galena and it was the second Galena vs. Warren/Stockton installment this season.

Leading the charge for the Pirates was senior Samantha Stoffregen who went two of four at bats with a triple. Other big hitters for the Pirates were Corina Noble ‘21 and Kaitlyn Clark ‘22. The Pirates scored pretty consistently all game, but were unable to keep their opponents from doing the same.

“It was tough to lose to them for a second time this season,” said Sami Wasmund. “We had plenty of chances to take the lead, but we were never able to capitalize on those opportunities, but if we see them again in the postseason I feel like we have a pretty good shot at beating them.”

The Pirates will play their next game Wednesday, May 1. The Lady Pirates record goes to 2-8 as they head into the final games of the season.
