Holding Defense

The Galena girls Soccer team played away against the conference leaders, Platteville on May 3. Varsity did not take home the win and the ending record was 0 to 2.

The Varsity played this game well and did a good job at holding the defense. The Galena defense was able to keep the score at 1 to 0 for most of the game. Senior captain Elena Garcia 19’ played goalie and had over 10 saves on goal. Garcia said, “I am happy I was able to save so many shots on goal and our team did a really good job at holding them considering they are number one in our Conference.”

The Galena Junior Varsity team tied against Platteville the same night. The ending score for the junior varsity team was 0 to 0. Karla Dionisio 20’ did a really good job at keeping defense and making the runs to keep the ball out of the goalie area. Dionisio said, “I am really happy we did not lose against Platteville, and we did a really good job holding them.”
