Lady Pirates take the Win

The Lady Pirates won their varsity volleyball game against West Carroll played Monday September 10. The Pirates won with a total of 25 to 12 in the first game and 25 to 9 in the second game.

The leads in kills were Maggie Furlong 22’ with 10,  McKenna Curran 20’ with 9 and Sami Wasmund 20’ with 8. Furlong said, “It was great to see us play that well this early in the season. I am excited to see where we will be at the end of the season.”

Curran 20’ got a 13 out of 16 on her serves and Gracie Wubban 20’ had a 7 out of 8 on hers. Curran said, “It wasn’t my best game but I decided to make up for it by serving consistently. After we were able to get into the tempo of things the team’s defense and offense clicked and we were able to control the tempo of the game.”

Wasmund had the highest amount of blocks with 7 and Kate Morran had 2. Wasmund said, “I feel I definitely played well defensively with my blocks and the team overall played very well.” 

Furlong 22’ had the highest amount of digs with a total of 6. Wasmund 20’ and Curran both had 4 digs each. 

The lady Pirates next game will be home on Thursday, September 12th. The girls will be playing East Dubuque at 5. Go Pirates!
