Senior athlete Peyton Bauer is this week’s Pirate Competitor of the Week sponsored by Galena Culver’s and the Galena Gazette. Peyton recently set several records in the Pirate weight room. He moved into first place all-time in power cleans with a lift of 290 lbs, breaking a ten year old school record. He also moved into 5th place all-time with a squat max of 445 lbs.  According to coach Ed Freed, “Peyton has done a phenomenal job this off-season in the weight room improving his athletic ability. It has been an uncharted off-season with no sports being allowed to play since last March, but this has not stopped Peyton from making the most of this situation to improve himself and be ready and better than ever when sports return again. He also has been a great leader and role model with his outstanding work ethic and commitment he shows in workouts.”  Peyton was honored with a gift basket from the Galena Culver’s, as well as a newspaper courtesy of the Galena Gazette.
