Pirate Athletics Return to the Gym

After months of waiting, Pirate athletics will return starting next week.  With our region’s upgrade to Phase 4 status, our winter sports can begin competition.  Last week, the NUIC revised schedules and basketball games will begin next week.  In the coming days football, volleyball, and traditional spring sports will also receive revised schedules.  We hope to be able to release these next week.
Due to IDPH regulations, there will be no spectators at games.  This is due to gym size and required distances that spectators must be seated away from competitors and the playing area.  A few gyms in the conference are able to meet the requirements, however NUIC schools are only allowing home fans in facilities able to accommodate spectators.  If these regulations change, we will update our policy.
Because of the spectator limitations, all NUIC schools will be livestreaming all games this year.  Each school utilizes different platforms for their streaming including the NFHS network, which requires an annual subscription.  While there is a fee for this subscription, it is a universal account which allows for viewing of all games in all sports on the network.  There is not a separate NFHS Network subscription for different schools or sports.  We will get our fans signup information for this prior to our first games.
As more details become available for upcoming activities, we will continue to update our families and fans.
