Also Nominated:
Senior quarterback Ethan Hefel was completed 7 of 12 passes for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns in Saturday’s victory over Madison. He also had a 3 yard run for a touchdown.  Coach Ed Freed complimented the performance, saying “Ethan had a big day leading our offense with a couple of touchdown passes and a touchdown run to get our first victory of the season at Madison. Ethan has great command of our offense and is doing a terrific job of making good decisions and throwing with accuracy.  He also is playing very good defense at the free safety position.”
Senior receiver Jacob Heisler had a big breakout game catching 2 passes for 62 yards and 2 touchdowns. According to coach Ed Freed, “Both of Jacob’s catches were at key points of the game as his first was right before half to go up two scores. His second catch was impressive as he made a good adjustment on the ball and this TD catch helped seal the deal on a victory.  It’s great to see Jacob have a big game as he has worked hard in the off-season and has patiently waited for his opportunity in his senior year.”
8th grade volleyball player Cameron Einsweiler played a significant role in the Pirates’ wins last week against Pearl City (3-0), Scales Mound (3-0), and East Dubuque (2-1).  According to coach Kailyn Stumpf, “since the beginning of the season, Cameron has improved her game tremendously, which is a result of her hardworking nature and love for the game of volleyball. I’m very proud of her hard work.”
