Recently the students of Galena High School have noticed the food quality decreasing. The food is often tasting bland, or cold by the student’s lunch hour. Other students however enjoy the lunch and often find themselves up for seconds.
Many students have observed the lunch quality decline from last year. “I knew from the moment I took a bite of my chicken sandwich I was in for a rough senior year,” said Molly Beadle ‘25. While the declining quality can be ascribed to a lack of cooks, funding, or simply lack of time one may never know. However, one thing can be known “We have a lack of cooks in the kitchen this year. However our great staff can only do so much,” said Mrs. Jenkins.
Although many think quality is declining the food seems to remain the same from last year. Same old chicken and the same old mashed potatoes. So what causes so many to believe quality has declined?
While some think the lunch is worse, others believe it’s just as good if not better than last year. “I like the school lunch because its scrum diddly yum yum. I love it when my friends give me what they won’t eat,” said Ell Law ‘27. Law often finds herself in trouble for budging the lunch line. She just can’t wait to get her hands on those sloppy joes. Some student’s favorite meals are the chicken alfredo, Frito chili, and popcorn chicken. School lunch is a quick and convenient way to get food at school.
School lunch is either the best or worst part of a student’s day. Overall school lunch is a great efficient way to get those needed calories in to continue their days. School lunch is often well-rounded and although not always enjoyable, a great option.
