Freshman and JV football
The journey to reach the highest standard in football is begun at the freshman and JV levels. However most people don’t understand the work and the overall preparation it takes to reach the varsity playing level.
“Our goal for this team is to both get better as a team and as individuals,” Coach Kyle Knight said.
Having a team that works together is something that every team wants to have. Lucky enough, many say Galena also has the talent.
“Our team’s goal is having dedication and wanting to improve on every aspect of the game,” said freshman Connor Einsweiler. Having dedication to the sport is crucial in getting the team to play strong and understand the game more.
Similarly , Jamie Bennett said, “Our goals for the season is to become an overall better, fundamentally sound team.”
Other than goals, Coach Kyle Knight said, “Our biggest weakness right now is our lack of strength.” Having strength is an important part of the game in order to make the team one of the top opponents and considered to be the biggest threat.
“Our team strength for this year is having an overall fast team that is willing to run the ball,” Cameron Gelinas said. Galena JV football has more strengths than weaknesses with understanding the fundamentals and improving themselves based on their goals.
The hard work this football season will definitely pay off when junior varsity players move to the varsity level.
