Ag is back
Everybody knows Galena, IL as a tourist town, but they also know how big of an impact farming has had on the area, which is why it has always been surprising that Galena High School has not had an Agriculture program, until Mrs. Lynch came to Galena and helped start it back up for the 2016-17 school year.
Lynch grew up in Walworth, WI and always had a love for agriculture.
“I didn’t live on a farm, but my grandpa owned a feed mill and showed dairy cows,” said Lynch.
In high school, she was a volleyball, basketball and soccer player that also competed in powerlifting.
“My max squat was around 265 pounds and my bench was only like 115,” Lynch said.
Aside from the multiple sports she was involved in at Big Foot High School, she was also an FFA member all throughout high school, and was excited about being able to move back to the area after having spent the last few years at Norwayne High School in Creston, Ohio.
“I was the freshman volleyball coach and an FFA coach,” she said.
Lynch is looking forward to using her Agricultural Education and Animal Industrial Management degrees at Galena to help interested students find their passion and future in agriculture, and is happy now that she is 332 miles closer to her family.
