Lady Pirates face down Warriors

IHSA girls Regionals began on Monday, Feb. 4. The Galena Lady Pirates kicked off their first game of regionals with a win at home against the Warren Warriors. The final score of the game was 49-25. So far this season the girls have a record of 19-8.

The girls played an outstanding game against Warren. Sami Wasmund ‘20 was the point leader with a total of 18 points. Wasmund’s points came from six two-pointers, one three-pointer, and three free throws.

Following behind Wasmund was Mackenzie Muehleip ‘20 with nine points. Muehleip said, “I think we played pretty good against Warren, but we definitely need to come ready on Wednesday because they are a very good team. We need to have our best game tomorrow.”

With weather cancellations affecting the regional schedule the girls next game will be played on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 6:00 on our home court. The Galena Pirates will play the Eastland Cougars.
