Spotlight on GHS FFA
They give back, they do a lot of public speaking, and they are focused on leadership. FFA is growing the next generation of leaders who will change the world.
Some of the things that our Galena FFA has done just this year is Proficiency’s, Parliamentary Procedure, chapter meetings.
FFA week was celebrated from February 19th to February 22, and included school wide dress up days, milkshake sales, a faculty lunch, and the Culver’s share night all raised awareness and support for our Galena FFA chapter. FFA Week also gave members a chance to give back to those in the community who have supported the FFA Chapter.
“It’s always nice to see people from outside of the chapter participating in FFA week. It really shows how wide our chapter reaches and the difference it can make in people’s lives,” said sophomore Kristin Hall.
The Galena FFA also does some team building things like FFA Ski Day, Dress-up days, and cake auction.
The chapter also do a lot for the younger kids to get them interested in FFA. They do the Ag Extravaganza, scheduled for early May.
This is an opportunity for students from the primary school to come to the high school and spend all day outside working through different stations about agriculture. High school FFA students create these stations to that to teach kids or show them something about Ag.
At the end of the year the GHS Chapter has an Ag banquet where everyone is recognized for their time in FFA and awards for section, district, and state are given out.
The Ag program truly does a lot more than people recognize and they are doing so much to not only grow into leaders who will change the world but also prepare themselves for their futures.
