Boy’s Track Team Takes the Title
On Tuesday, April 23 the boy’s track team traveled to Pecatonica High School for their meet. The team ended up on top with 186.00 points, 61.5 more points than Dakota, the second place team.
Junior Damian Stephanopoulos has had quite the success this track season, including being Pirate Competitor of the week. Stephanopoulos placed second with a 18’06.00 in the long jump. “I feel pretty good, a lot to improve on and get better for the big stage coming up,” said Stephanopoulos ‘20.
Another junior, Austin Meyer, placed in the top ten for discuss and shot put. Meyer ‘20 placed 5th out 18 for the discuss, throwing a 100’09.00.” He also placed 8th of 16 other people for the shot put, launching a 33’08.00.” Meyer ‘20 said, “I really enjoy the field events, and I’m hoping to see more improvement through the season.”
Senior Kieran DuPlessis placed 2nd for the 100 meter dash with 11.72 seconds. The 400 meter relay placed 2nd as well. The relay included DuPlessis ‘19 and Stephanopoulos ‘20. The relay came short with 45.94 seconds, a matter of a second from first place.
