Reminiscing Senior Night

The football, cheerleading, and cross country seniors all come together to take a picture after they were announced. All the teams have been practicing hard to show off their talents and improvements for their last season as a Pirate!

At the Friday night football game on September 2, the Galena High School seniors of football, cheerleading, and cross country were recognized. It was an excellent time for friends and families to celebrate!

Getting back on the field for the first home game of the season is exciting for both the players and the Pirate fans! “Playing on our home field has a whole different feeling than anywhere else,” said John Wubben ‘23. “Playing in front of all the Galena fans creates so much excitement. I was happy to be back!”

With senior night comes many different emotions of cheerfulness and sadness. Players think back to their favorite memories from their past years. “My favorite football memory was being able to share some of my sophomore season with my brother Peyton,” said Keaton Bauer ‘23. “He taught me so much during that time and I will always want just one more minute playing on that field with him.” The 2023 football seniors included John Wubben, Ali Al Hamdani, Keaton Bauer, Sam Eaton, Kolby Knautz, Kaleb Muehleip, Ashton Sproule, Ryan Stoffregen, Jesus Tujilo, and Tanner Wienen.

The cheerleaders were also happy to get back into the swing of things! They have been practicing hard preparing for the games and dances that they will perform. The seniors included Hanako Howland, Kelsie Wienen, and Genevieve Young. “I always enjoy cheering on the track for home games,” said Genevieve.

Konner Allendorf was the only senior for cross country, but it was great that his running career could be acknowledged as well, alongside the other athletes.

You can see all the Pirates in action at the homecoming football game, which will be played Friday, September 16 at 7:00 pm.
