Pirate Competitor of the Week (October 17, 2022)
Paeton Hyde Varsity Volleyball – Paeton had a big week for the volleyball team helping lead the Pirates to a win on Tuesday over Warren and a championship at the St. Thomas More tournament. Coach Dennis Wills commented, “Paeton has an incredible work ethic which has led her to become an awesome volleyball player! This was very much on display this past week as she was a huge contributor in our victories and our championship at the St.Thomas More tournament. She collected 32 kills and served up 9 aces in a great offensive effort. However, where Paeton really stands out is on the defensive side of the game. For the week she collected an amazing 16 stuff blocks! This great effort was also noticed by other coaches who selected her to the All Tournament team at STM. Congratulations Paeton and great job!”

Alyssa Wienen JV Volleyball – Alyssa helped lead the JV Volleyball team to a second place finish on Saturday at the Pearl City Tournament. Coach Taylor Ozee said, “Alyssa has stepped into a leadership role on the court for us this year, and has done a wonderful job. She remains positive, yet competitive in tough situations, and plays consistently. Alyssa is a great teammate, and a very coachable athlete. We would not have had the season we did without her!”
Roman Romer Varsity Football – Roman had a couple of outstanding catches Friday night in a tough loss to Pecatonica-Durand. His last catch resulted in a 13 yard touchdown. For the evening he had 4 catches for 40 yards and 1 touchdown. On defensive he recorded 5 tackles and an interception. Coach Ed Freed said, “Roman has really stepped up for us this year and has made some big plays on both sides of the ball. He has a great work ethic and is someone you can count on to always give his best. We are very excited about what Roman can do in the next three years in our program.”
