Tracy Jenkins has been at it again, writing another original play for GHS. Except this time, she has expanded upon one of her older plays, Bloody Quizbowl, with the upcoming sequel Bloody Bloody Quizbowl. This show combines equal parts comedy and horror to create a unique experience for viewers. The GHS Drama Club will not leave you disappointed.
When Ms. Anderson-Beadle was asked why she chose to direct Bloody Bloody Quizbowl for this year’s fall production, her response was multi-faceted. Because of the success of previous large-cast shows, such as Mamma Mia, Ms. Anderson-Beadle felt driven to try another. Fortunately enough, Mrs. Jenkins had the exact type of script that she was looking for.
Mrs. Jenkins’ plays are specifically written for current GHS talent. However, the original Bloody Quizbowl was written over 10 years ago. Ms. AB said, “Typical Tracy Jenkins originals are written FOR a specific group of students…I thought it would be fun to try to fit our current actors into parts made for high schoolers of the 2010s.” Ms. AB remembers seeing the original play when she was a middle school student, saying, “It was funny and goofy and immersive.” Ms. AB also added, “Tracy has never had anyone perform/direct a show she has written without being a part of the production process, so I wanted to be the first!”
Set in the modern day, the play entails four schools duking it out in an attempt to win the Quizbowl tournament. However, as the tournament proceeds, it becomes evident to the students that a killer is working behind the scenes. As their numbers dwindle, the students attempt to hunt down the killer and put an end to the “Bloody Bloody Quizbowl” once and for all.
Many veteran GHS drama club members, such as Emma Duncan ‘26, Liliana Asta ‘26, Conner Soat ‘25, and Jayln Walker ‘26, are returning to the stage in this production. The play also features new and upcoming talent such as Zoe Blaum ‘27, Seven Smith ‘27, and Sabine Blaum ‘27. The full cast list may be extensive, but every cast member fulfills their role to put on a successful show.
Audience members could become part of the show in this interactive experience. Similar to “Totally Rockin’ 80’s Prom,” viewers can willingly (or unwillingly) be implemented into the show. For example, there will be four parts that are voluntary. If the viewer chooses to, they will become a member of one of the quiz bowl teams. Be sure to study before taking your seat!
The show will be performed from Thursday, November 21 through Saturday, November 23 at 7:00 PM. at Turner Hall. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
Come support the drama club this November. You will not be disappointed!
