Congratulations to Coach Eyres and both the boy’s and girl’s cross country teams as they captured conference championships Saturday at Pecatonica. The girls were led by Freshman Monserrat Solano who finished second overall. Martina Fugiani finished 3rd, Sydney Schoenhard was 7th, Aubrie Tritz was 9th and Tessa Gempler was 12th to round out the scoring. All 5 girls were All-Conference. The boys were led by sophomore Andrew Richardson who was the individual champion and broke the course record. Vincent Gullone finished 4th, Peter Wagner was 6th, Liam Mead was 8th, and Devin Bradt was 13th. Four of our top five were All-Conference.
Congratulations to Pirate Competitor of the Week – Monserrat Solano Girls Cross Country – Monserrat finished second overall at the NUIC Conference Meet on Saturday as a freshman. Her runner-up finish helped the girls win the team title. Coach Michael Eyres said, “This is her first year of running, and she has been improving every week. In her first meet of the year at Rock Falls she ran 30:28 over 3 miles. At our Conference meet only two months later on an extremely tough course, she ran a PR of 22:46. She has a lot of potential and has a great future in running. We are lucky to have her on the team!”
Attention Key Club members – the meeting for tomorrow has been canceled. Please make sure to check your email for important club information. Flower Fundraising forms are still available in Mrs. Bookless’ room. These forms are due back by November 5.
