The Galena Pirate Girls Volleyball team continued to dominate after picking up the victory against the Warren Warriors. The Pirates took them to 2 sets winning the first set 25-12 and the second set 25-8. “Our game went well against Warren and everyone was playing very strong defense and offense,” said Violet Doyle ‘26
The Pirate’s leader in kills was Gracie Furlong ‘25. She had 13 kills on the night overall with Leah Heller ‘27 and Kendra Bauer ‘27 coming in with 3 kills of their own.
Mya McCoy ‘25 also contributed to the team by going 16 of 17 of serving with supplying 2 aces. Heller also had a great serve game by going 10 for 10 with 2 aces of her own.
Bauer led the team in blocks with 5 and McCoy had one of her own.
Abigail Merrit ‘25 had a great supporting game by giving the team 23 assists. Gracie Furlong also gave an assist herself. “I think the game went well and we performed well as a team,” said Merrit, “Everyone worked together to get the game done and everyone performed to the best of their ability!”
The team’s dig leaders were Furlong with 9 digs and McCoy with 6. After that game, the Galena Pirates extended their winning streak to 16 games in a row.
The Pirates Volleyball team will be hosting the regional tournament. They will be playing on Thursday night at 6:00 pm. Admissions will be six dollars per person.
