Congratulations to Pirate Competitor of the Week – Sam Amaya Varsity Basketball
This week in 4 games, Sam averaged 11 points 6 rebounds and 4 assists to help lead Galena to a 2-2 record for the week vs 4 really tough opponents. Coach Matt Wienen said, “Sam has had a good start to the season so far. He is a stat filler on the offensive end of the floor and is improving every day on the defensive end. Sam’s most important value to this year’s team is his ability to get to the rim and score, and rebounding. He is one of our top rebounders so far this season, averaging around 7 rebounds a game. Sam put in a lot of work through the summer and fall. Committing to the weight room and getting into the gym 3-4 times a week working on his game. Looking forward to seeing how much more Sam can improve and help our team improve throughout our season!”
