The Galena Pirates boys basketball team faced a tough challenge on December 14th at the annual Eastland Holiday Tournament, ultimately falling to the Cougars 67-49.
The first half proved challenging for the Pirates, with Eastland holding a commanding 30-17 lead. Despite a strong effort in the second half, Galena couldn’t overcome the early deficit.
Mason Smith ’26 and Sam Amaya ’26 led the Pirates’ scoring effort, each contributing 12 points.
Reflecting on the game, Mason Smith ’26 said, “We played a really good team, and we played well to our strengths.”
While disappointed with the loss, the Pirates remain in first place in their conference. They will continue to train hard and strive for success in upcoming games.
