After a very long two-week winter break Galena students returned to school. Most staff and students dreaded being back after being able to sleep in every day. However, Mrs. Hawkins has mixed opinions about coming back to school. Hawkins said, “It was hard for me and my kids because we are not morning people, but other than that it is nice to be back.”
Many students would agree the hardest part of coming back is waking up.“Winter break was so long and coming back to school is very hard because I hate waking up early. I also miss seeing my beautiful girlfriend daily,” said Keinan Lyden ‘27
After being away from their usual school routines some students have found the switch back hard. “The change back to school was hard for me because I had to change my entire sleep schedule and I can’t eat ice cream every day,” said Bella Edmonds ‘28. Many students at GHS have messed up their sleep schedule and have to try and switch to their school routine.
The long winter break put many people in a slump. Some students are already counting down the days until their next break. Quin Wells ‘25 said, “All that stands between me and spring break is three months of mind-shattering calculus.”
On the other hand, some people were ready to come back after the break. Mrs. Burken said, “I was ready to get back because I missed seeing all my students.” Some people were excited to share holiday stories and get back into their routines.
Conversely, people have mixed emotions about being back at school after a break. Winter break was the perfect time for students to refresh their minds and relax. Even though the transition back into school might be rough for some students, people should try to go into it with a positive attitude.
