On March 24, the boys baseball team had an exciting game against Polo. The Pirates made sure to bring it their all and managed an amazing victory, ending the game with a 1-11 score. Drew Koenigs ‘26 said, “I knew we needed to be aggressive at the plate and on the bases.” Galena made sure to quickly take that power of Polo, which helped them get that victory they deserved at the end.
Throughout the game, they kept their heads up and their energy never faltered. Koenigs said, “Our team strategy was to attack at the plate and play cool and collected on the defense.” Galena was able to keep Polo off of them for the majority of the game, rarely ever letting them score and remaining untouchable. In total, Galena managed to have 11 runs and 12 hits as well as an amazing victory.
Mason Smith ‘26 said, “I think our team did really well at this game, we stayed strong and never backed down.” Some of the players who really made a difference were Hefel ‘26 and Johnny Heller ‘25 with 3 hits, helping their team out. The Galena Boys baseball team plans to use their win as an advantage as they continue with their season. Their next game is on 4/8 make sure to come out and support your Galena pirates!
