Galena Pirates played against Durand at Durand on March 26th. The pirates had a comeback in the 6th inning. The final score was 6-5 in favor of the Pirates. Ava Hann had a great game; she had 14 strikeouts, batted a runner home, and scored a run herself. “I felt like we did good as a team. We fought hard to take the lead,” said Ava Hann ‘25.
The Pirates fought hard against Durand. It was a cold game, and the girls started off struggling. The pirates fought back and forth until the end. The girls used their teamwork to help pull ahead in the game and walk away with a win. “Makenna Berning had a great game,” said Coach Rosenthal, “she was sitting on the bench the whole game, and then we decided to put her in. She came in and hit a home run, which helped us get in the lead!” The Pirates fought to take the lead in the 6th and were able to maintain it. Kendra Bauer also had a great game. She had 2 doubles and played a key role in helping the pirates to victory against Durand.
The Pirates worked long and hard to secure a win.“It felt good to win because it was very back and forth the whole game, but eventually we won, and it felt like all of our hard work paid off,” said Kallan Kropp ‘26. The Pirates’ next game will be at home against Pecatonica.
