Andrew Koenigs strikes out his eighth batter in 10 – 0 victory against the Milledgeville Missiles on Thursday. This is the 5th game for the Pirates Varsity Baseball team and they now have a 4- 1 record. The Pirates really brought it all coming into the ‘25 season and proved their level of intensity at the Thursday night game.
Zach Heller ‘25 and Gus Nack ‘26 came as big contributors to the 10 – 0 lead, both of them individually scoring 2 runs for the team. But Andrew Koenings ‘26 had the hot bat of the night, getting 3 hits and driving in 2 runs. Drew Sullivan ‘26 helped carry Koeings hits home by scoring all of Koeings hits. Sullivan and Z.Heller were active on the base pads and each had a stolen base.
Koenings had a standout game defensively as a pitcher and pitched 5 innings letting up only 2 hits. The rest of the team backed up their pitcher by not allowing these hits to be runs. Mason Smith ‘26 denied any attempts at stolen bases and caught a runner attempting to steal.
It was clear that the Pirates were leading the charge and flow of the game and were quick to shut down any attempts from the Missiles. Roman Romer ‘26 and Johnny Heller both had 2 runs and J.Heller with an RBI.
The Pirates are on an impressive and enticing start to their season and still have plenty of games left to prove their dominance on and off the field.
