The Galena Pirates faced off against Prairie du Chien on April 15, 2025. They went into the game 2-3 and determined to make their record .500 on the season.
The kickoff went very well, but it was a stalemate for most of the first half. Then, Galena’s defense broke down, let up a score, and went down 0-1. “It’s not what we wanted to do in the first half, but we knew that they were a tough team,” said Violet Doyle ‘26.
The second half was a Prairie du Chien dominated half. They went up to 0-2 quickly in the first minutes of the second half and shortly after scored another. Tessa ‘25 for Prairie du Chien was the lead scorer with all 3 scores. “It was tough going up against someone going to the next level,” said goalkeeper Ava Engle ‘27. “I thought we put up a good fight.”
Overall, the Galena Soccer team is now 2-4 and is preparing for their next game against Dodgeville at home.
