The Galena High School Drama club has just closed their last big meet-up before the end of the school year, concluding this year’s run by naming new thespians, giving out awards, and making a couple of notable announcements.
The Drama Club banquet’s primary purpose is to address the successes of this year’s shows, to commemorate those associated with the program, and, of course, to announce the shows that are planned to start production for next year. It’s a way to recognize the hard work done by the club’s members and the support that has been given by various members of our own community. “The drama banquet is always my favorite of the year. Finding out the show for next year, dressing up, and watching the old curtain calls is always a fun way to wrap up the year. ”
To kick things off, everyone was able to get a seat and was shortly informed on the banquet’s agenda. Tables were called for food, and in the meantime, the seniors were able to grab some paint and leave their signatures on the backstage walls, signifying the end of their high school shows. Once the majority finished eating, the director, Ms. Anderson-Beadle, gave her speech, expressing how she felt about each departing senior. Then, new members of the thespian society were introduced, and ongoing members were recognized–seniors were given their cords for graduation. Once finished, the new annual tradition, the “Bindy Awards,” were given out. These awards were purely satirical, inside jokes based on whatever mishaps their respective recipient caused.
Next up was the recap for all previous show encores, from 2021 to now. The video was the main bulk of the banquet, showcasing each show that our fellow theater group has put up over the years. The end of the video concluded the banquet, with the small exception of taking some photos before leaving.
