Congratulations to the Galena varsity football team, who won Friday’s home non-conference game against Benton/Scales Mound/Shullsburg by a score of 34-14. Good Luck to the JV team as they take the field tonight in Benton.
Congratulations to this week’s Pirate Competitor of the Week – Roman Romer completed 21 out of 28 passes for 315 yards and 2 TDS. He also added a rushing score. Coach Kyle Knight said, “Roman played a great game and did an awesome job of being accurate with the football while exploiting BSMS’s man-to-man defense. We will continue to rely on Roman as the competition stiffens in the weeks ahead.”
Tonight’s volleyball game against Cuba City will have the freshman starting at 5:00 in GEMS south gym and JV starting at 5:00 in GEMS North gym, with Varsity to follow.
A shout out to our cross country teams as they are off to a great start! The boys team finished second at the Rock Falls Meet, first place at the Monroe, WI meet, and a 4th place at a very competitive Oregon Meet. At the Monroe meet we had four guys in the top ten lead by Vinny Gullone at 4th, Andrew Richardson 5th, Peter Wagner 6th and Lucas Jackson 9th. The girls team has been led by freshman Kendall Ziegler who placed 5th at Rock Falls, 13th at Monroe, and 16th out of 125 at Oregon. Great job CC!
Any student interested in being on the bass fishing team, please stop by Mrs. Watson’s room at the start of homeroom today. If you cannot make it, please send her an email.
Please dismiss the boys/girls golf team at 2:00 today. They will leave from the HS lower lot.

T-Mobile awards 450 schools across the nation with $5000, 25-$25,000 finalist, and a grand prize of 1 million for high school football field renovations. This is something that would be very beneficial as we start constructing our new football field and track to have additional funding for a big-time facility!
