Let’s give a round of applause to the Galena girls’ golf team for their performance last night! They secured a win against West Carroll by forfeit, with a team score of 206. Co-medalists for the meet were Galena’s own Kallan Kropp and Claire Furlong, who both shot a 50. The runner-up was Layla Shemehorn with a score of 52. Layla Deloach also contributed to the team score with a 53.
In their match against Oregon, the girls fell with a score of 206 to 193. Oregon’s Aniyah Sarver was the medalist with a 41, and Sarah Eckhard was the runner-up with a 45.
The Galena boys’ golf team also had an eventful night! They defeated West Carroll with a score of 194 to 238. The medalist was Brant Romer with a 47, and freshman Drew Ehler was the runner-up with a 48. Other scores came from freshman Beckham Marlette with a 49, and Ethan Amaya and Drew Phillips, who both shot a 50.
Against Oregon, the boys lost with a final score of 194 to 160. Oregon’s Jackson Massenger was the medalist with a 37, and Nole Campos was the runner-up with a 38. The boys’ conference record is now 1-1, and their overall record is 2-6.
The JV team also competed against Oregon, losing with a score of 231 to 211. Oregon’s Matthew Pham was the medalist with a 45, and Nelson Benesh was the runner-up with a 51. For Galena, Tyson Scharpf scored a 55, Liam Felderman a 56, Porter Perry a 59, and Landon Lange a 61. Great job to all our golfers!
