A big congratulations to the Galena girls’ golf team on their win last night! They defeated Eastland at Lake Carroll with a final score of 217 to 225. Eastland’s Kaya Vanmatre was the medalist, shooting a 48, while our own Layla DeLoach was the runner-up with a score of 50. Other scores contributing to the victory were from Kallan Kropp with a 51, Claire Furlong with a 55, and Cameron Einsweiler with a 61. This win brings the girls’ record to 8-3 overall and 8-2 in the conference. Great job, ladies!
Today is a SIP day reminder that there is no CTE on SIP days.
There will be a student council meeting during homeroom in Burken’s room on Monday; all members must attend.
Let’s give a round of applause to the Galena volleyball teams for a great night against East Dubuque!
The varsity team dominated in two sets, winning 25-5 and 25-13. The team’s offense was powered by kill leaders Mya McCoy with 11, Macie Weber with eight, and Kendra Bauer with six. At the service line, Emma Ehrler was 9 for 9 with four aces, and Jayme Frank was 14 for 15 with one ace. On defense, Mya McCoy had three blocks and Addison Stroyan had two, while Jayme Frank had 10 digs and Zoe Blaum had eight. Emma Ehrler led the team in assists with 25.
Our JV team also had a big night, winning their match with scores of 25-12 and 25-15. Ell Law led the team in blocks and Ella White was the kill leader.
The freshman team came away with a victory as well, winning their games 25-7 and 25-18. Ali Mann led the team in digs.
A great effort by all our volleyball teams!
