The Galena Boys Golf Team played two conference meets at the Galena Golf Course tonight against Fulton and Warren. The Pirates lost a tough match to Fulton with a score of 188 to 144 and to Warren with a score of 188 to 175. Contributing scores for Galena included Brant Romer with a 42, Drew Phillips with a 46, Colton Richardson with a 47, and Masson Smith and Liam Felderman who both shot a 53. The team’s record is now 1-5 in conference play and 2-13 overall.
The team also had a playoff for the final two JV spots for the conference tournament. Congratulations to Ethan Amaya and Landon Lange, who both qualified with a score of 48! The full list of golfers heading to the conference tournament on Thursday is: Brant Romer, Drew Phillips, Mason Smith, Drew Ehrler, Colton Richardson, Ethan Amaya and Landon Lange. We wish them the best of luck!
What a night for our Galena volleyball teams! They all swept their matches against Scales Mound, with some impressive performances on every court. The varsity team won in two games with scores of 25-16 and 25-16. A huge congratulations to Mya McCoy, who recorded her 500th career kill in the match! Mya led the team with 8 kills, while Kendra Bauer and Macie Weber each had 5. At the service line, Zoe Blaum was perfect, going 10 for 10 with an ace, and Jayme Frank was 12 for 12 with one ace. On defense, Kendra Bauer, Emma Ehrler, and Addison Stroyan each had 2 blocks. Emma Ehrler led the team with 22 assists, while Zoe Blaum had 10 digs and Jayme Frank had 6.
The JV team also had a great night, winning both their games 25-17 and 25-19. Alaina Heller led the team with 14 assists and Chesnie Rosenthal had 9 digs.
And our freshman team was not to be outdone, winning their two games 25-18 and 25-20. Kenzie Harris led the team with 9 kills.
