Are you interested in following in the footsteps of a comedy and media legend? Did you know that Stephen Colbert, host of The Late Show and one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People, is a proud alumnus of The Porter-Gaud School, Class of 1982? That’s right! Before he was earning Primetime Emmy Awards and writing New York Times #1 bestsellers, Colbert was honing the skills that made him a massive success right here. Where do you learn to command an audience, think on your feet, and deliver a message with impact? On the Speech Team! The skills you learn on the Speech Team—like quick wit, persuasive argument, and confident public speaking—are the same ones that propelled Colbert to host one of the highest-rated shows on Comedy Central, The Colbert Report, and then take over as host of The Late Show on CBS. Whether you want to be a TV star, a lawyer, an entrepreneur, or a powerful communicator in any field, the Speech Team is where you develop your voice and find your confidence. Come to the informational meeting on Friday during homeroom in Mrs. Bookless’s room to find out more!
