GHS! Reminder that this week’s football game is our annual Tackle Cancer Pink Out game. Wear your pink to the game for lots of fun giveaways, raffles, and more to raise money for the MercyOne Cancer Center in Dubuque! Thank you for your support, Pirates!
Mark your calendars! Unity Day is next Wednesday, October 22nd! Bullying hurts. It can lead to low self-esteem, isolation, and poor performance in school. We can and must do better. Join us in showing that our district stands for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Please wear and share orange next Wednesday. It’s one day for Unity, but let’s practice #UnityEveryDay. Everyone who wears orange will be put into a drawing for a $10 cash prize.
Good luck to the Pirate scholastic bowl varsity team as they embark on their maiden voyage of the season on Sunday to compete on the Rockford TV show, “Bergstrom Stateline Quiz Bowl.” They will face off with Ashton-Franklin Center in a match that will be televised in December. The team bus leaves at 8:30 a.m.
A rep from the University of Illinois Springfield will be here at 1:30 on Wednesday. If you are interested in learning more about the University of Illinois Springfield, please let Mrs. Deppe know.
Next week, we will begin class registration presentations. In the past, we have had teachers rotate around to each grade level and tell students about the classes they will be teaching for the upcoming year. However, due to construction, we do not have large enough locations for all to be done in one day. Therefore, we will implement the following schedule next week:
- SENIORS: Seniors will be able to leave, regardless of homeroom release, Monday-Wednesday.
- JUNIORS: Juniors will report to the cafeteria on Monday to learn about upcoming classes for their senior year. Tuesday and Wednesday, they will be able to leave, regardless of homeroom release.
- SOPHOMORES: Sophomores will report to the cafeteria on Tuesday to learn about upcoming classes for their junior year. On Monday and Wednesday, they will be able to leave, regardless of homeroom release.
- FRESHMEN: Freshmen will report to the cafeteria on Wednesday to learn about upcoming classes for their sophomore year. On Monday and Tuesday, they will be able to leave, regardless of their homeroom release time.
If a student does not have transportation to leave the building, they are welcome to stay at school and should report to Mrs. Burken’s room to be supervised by Mrs. Niles.
