Students study Signcraft

On Thursday, October 18, the sophomore class went on a field trip to Signcraft, a screen-printing company in Galena, and then headed up to CTE. At Signcraft, they learned about the workforce and the process of how stickers, decals, and more were made. At the CTE, the students got a taste of a variety of career options from representatives of local businesses and CTE instructors.

“Going through Signcraft was an interesting process,” Allison Garcia ‘21 said. “I never really gave much thought to how all these things were made.”

The workers at Signcraft taught the students how they make stickers and decals. Signcraft creates everything from small stickers to ones that are big enough to fit across semis. Students were able to participate by taking part in blocking out a screen. At the end, they got to take home stickers from the trip.

After Signcraft, the bus took the sophomores up to Elizabeth to visit the CTE. There were a variety of jobs and companies to inform the students from local schools about career options and opportunities after high school and college. Students were divided up alphabetically and assigned to go to three different stations.

“I was kind of bummed that we didn’t get to pick our own,” Morgan McIntyre ‘21 said. “I probably would have been more interested.”

The topics included culinary, construction, and everything in between. The class arrived back in time for homeroom with knowledge on possibly new topics.

“The trip was overall a great learning experience!” said Jordan Jimenez ‘21.
