Club de Espanol

On Thursday, November 15 Spanish Club had their monthly meeting. This club is one of the newest clubs at GHS. Scott Gimmy is the Spanish teacher this year, instead of it being an online course. When he came, so did Club de Espanol!

“Spanish Club is a great way to expand your knowledge about lots of different things!” said Ellis Kruse ‘21. During meetings members sing songs in Spanish, eat Mexican food, discuss different topics relating to the culture, and work on projects. The club also hosts movie nights and just recently had a taco dinner on Monday, November 26. “Things like this is one of the many reasons why I participate in Spanish Club,” Andres Sanchez ‘21 said.

Teacher Scott Gimmy said, “I think Spanish Club is great because it gives people an opportunity to come together with a shared interest. I think it’s a lot of fun because we can do some more of the fun cultural activities that we don’t get time to do in class. I really enjoy seeing the students having fun.”

At the last meeting students worked on creating a piñata. They used colorful tissue paper to make it more festive. As a treat there was buñuelos to eat while decorating. Members also wrote down what they were thankful for in Spanish on turkey feathers to hang up. Riley Wills ‘21 said, “Writing what we were thankful was nice because it got us in the holiday spirit, and was an opportunity to improve our Spanish.”

Listen on the announcements for the next meeting if you would like to attend. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to learn more about a different culture!
