Senior Marion Schultz being upset about how she has to be here for another 24 days. “I seriously can’t wait until summer. I’m going to have so much free time until I enter college!” Marion said. Seniors will graduate on May 19, 2019 in the gym.

Every year, each senior class gets hit with the overwhelming sickness of senioritis. Your symptoms are simple: laziness, lack of motivation, and the unwillingness of wanting to get out of bed. You hope your mom’s chicken soup can cure you, but once you’re sick, the only cure is graduation. Now it’s tough, you try to get your homework done, but it’s oh so too much. That is why I have laid out 5 temporary cures to get through senioritis.

The very first temporary cure would be to sleep more! Your body needs rest after four years of being in this high school. After four years of wonky temperatures, wonky smells in the basement, and wonky smells in the freshman hallways, you need to go home and take a nap. A fat nap to be exact. Don’t forget to take naps after school, they will make you feel refreshed, even if it’s for 10 minutes.

Now this next cure is kind of a bore. But it’s very important, now listen to me: it is so much more relieving when you finish your homework early. I know, I know, the block schedule is so convenient when it comes to homework, but wouldn’t you be blessed when you go home to find out that you had already done the previous assignment? Exactly. Don’t put it off. If you put off your homework, you’re more likely to just not do it. These are just straight facts here.

Most importantly on this list is just to have some fun. Seniors have about 24 days of school left. And each day it’s counting down. Don’t forget to relax and go for a drive. When you’re on this drive, listen to your favorite playlist. Enjoy the beautiful weather. Just picture yourself on the stage on May 19. That’ll push you to do all your school work.

Pick up something new to do. Or just continue to do something you love. For me personally, I have picked up watercoloring and just doodling on pieces of paper. If you do something you love, you will be more happy and more motivated to get everything done. You can also try putting on the cap and gown to make yourself feel better.

24, 24, 24, 24. May 19, May 19, May 19, May 19. Countdown the days until graduation. This will basically cure senioritis because everyday is one day closer. Start getting into the mindset that your grades will not change drastically after this point. So try keeping your grades up so you don’t have to take your finals. And if you don’t have to take your finals, you don’t have to be in school during testing days!

All in all, you can get through the roller coaster of senioritis if you try to supress the laziness and lack of motivation. If you do this, you’re guaranteed to walk across the stage and get your diploma. But you have to get there first. And in order to get there, you have to better yourself. You have to take some naps, eat some food, do your homework, and do some fun things.
