Dominating the track

The Galena / East Dubuque / River Ridge girls track team took another title at their meet at Pecatonica on Thursday, April 25. The team placed first with 228 points.

The 1600 meter relay with Morgan Wills ‘19, Lizzy Eaton ‘20, and Kate Moran ‘21 placed second with a 4:46.07.  The 800 meter relay consisted of Wills ‘19 and Eaton ‘20. The girls ran a 1:59.95, and got second as well.

Moran ‘21 received second place for the 400 meter dash. She ran a 1:07.43. “The season is going well, we have won a majority of our meets. I continue to see improvement throughout the whole team,” said Moran ‘21.

Senior Sammi Digman placed first on the 300 meter low hurdles. Her time was 56.38 seconds.

Freshmen also had quite the success at the meet. Sydney Einsweiler ‘22 got sixth place for the 1600 meter run with a 7:14.42. Einsweiler ‘22 said,“I love how we all push each other to be our best. I feel that we are going to do really good at conference this week.”

Avery Engle ‘22 ran long distance too, but for the 800 meter run. Engle ‘22 received first. She ran a 2:47.02.

The girls track Conference meet will be on Thursday, May 2. Congratulations to the Pirates this track season, and good luck at Conference!
