Coming Soon to Your Home Theater

Even when everything has changed, the show must go on. The GHS Drama Club uses Google Meet to stay socially distanced while preparing for their fall movie. In the photo (left to right) Mr. Jenkins, Hayes Noble, Chloe Roland, Mrs. Jenkins, Caleb Soat, Jovian Pham, Andres Sanchez, Mr. Tancrell, Emma Blaum, Maya Dickerson, and DJ Heid participate in a rehearsal. “This year it’s been really different because mostly everything has been online,” Maya Dickerson ‘22 stated. Despite the changes, the Drama Club continues to work hard to put together a great show.

Galena High School’s Drama Club fall play just got a COVID-19 makeover. This year, instead of going out to see the play, people can watch it from the comfort of their homes because Tracy Jenkins’ original screenplay titled Time Stamp 2020 is going to be shown as a movie.

The process of making the show in a movie form has been different for those involved. “It’s a lot quicker. We have to work faster and get it done sooner, but it’s still fun. It’ll be cool to see the final product,” says Hayes Noble ‘23. Shooting for the movie was scheduled to begin this week, but has been delayed due to the quarantining of seven people involved in the production.

The movie is set to premiere on Friday, November 20 but due to this unexpected turn of events, may be subject to change. The movie is also scheduled to be shown during school hours on Tuesday, November 24 before Thanksgiving break. Hopefully, the cast stays healthy and the show can go on.
