Knowing exactly what you are looking for in a school can help you narrow down colleges you are looking at. Galena High school teachers,“I chose Augie for its size and academics,”said Mrs. Calfee. “I was looking for a school where I would be known as an actual person and not just one random student out of a huge classroom that holds up to 500 students,” said Calfee. “I wanted to make sure that I would be taught directly by professors as opposed to Teacher Assistants like many larger schools do,” she said.

Both teachers can agree that Augustana College has many positive aspectsMrs. Calfee explains some of the most beneficial effects of attending Augustana College. “Aside from the excellent academic curriculum, everything else about Augie was awesome as well,” she said. “The student life was so enjoyable, The Office of Student Activities plans completely free activities for the student body on a weekly basis,” expressed Calfee. “During your freshman and sophomore year you live in the dorms on campus and the Community Advisor plans fun team-building activities so that you get to know your ‘neighbors’ really well, that was really cool because you had your own apartment that you knew was completely safe,” explains Calfee.

While this school was a wonderful choice for both teachers, did either teacher regret their college choice? “I don’t regret anything about attending Augustana, it was expensive – but I know it was worth it,” said Bookless. “When I graduated, I felt totally ready to be a teacher,  I was prepared and had some good experience in my student teaching. “It was a great place to go to school and I’m glad that’s where I finished my education!”
