Pirate Competitor of the Week:
Senior softball player Madeline Ries is this week’s Pirate Competitor of the Week sponsored by Galena Culver’s and the Galena Gazette.  In 3 games this weekend at the Pearl City tournament, Madeline went 4 for 8 with 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored.  She also made two spectacular catches while playing left field which prevented the other team from scoring multiple runs.  According to coach Dusty Berning, “not only has Madeline been one of the top hitters on our team this year, her defense has been perfect.  She’s a leader both on and off the field and has received numerous compliments from opposing coaches this year. Her leadership will be missed next season.”  Madeline was honored with a gift basket from the Galena Culver’s, as well as a newspaper courtesy of the Galena Gazette.
