Galena High School’s National Art Honor Society has outdone themselves once again with another wonderful art show. On Thursday, November 3, NAHS members opened their nature themed art show at Galena’s Center for the Arts. A Peek Into Nature is a tiny themed art show which means that all the pieces had to meet a certain size limit. The art show included many different tiny canvases depicting different aspects of nature with all different art styles and mediums. All around the room viewers can observe tiny pictures of many things from mountains to sunsets to animals. One NAHS member, Chase Dittmar ‘23, even thought outside of the box and created a three dimensional piece with a smaller pumpkin. 

The building was busy all evening with artists, parents, and community members all gathered to celebrate and admire the hard work of the National Art Honor Society. “I loved seeing everyone’s interpretation of the theme,” said Jillian Kouzmanoff ’23. “They were all very creative!” It is wonderful how Galenians support the arts in our community.

Galena has some very talented and creative artists and the community can’t wait to see what the NAHS produces next. The group already plans to host more art galleries throughout the year and hopes everyone can come see and enjoy them.” In the spring, I hope that our art show can bring out more youth in the community,” said Emma Furlong ‘24, president of NHS. “One of our missions is to spread art into the community, so seeing more young people attend the show would be awesome.” If you happened to miss the opening on the 3rd you can still view the pieces as A Peek Into Nature will be open for viewing the entire month of November.
