The annual Galena Booster Club Meet the Pirates Night was held on Friday, August 16, at GHS. Students and coaches from all the IHSA events at GHS were recognized. This kickoff is a chance for Pirates to get together and celebrate the school year ahead.
Many people get the chance to learn all the good things the Booster Club does for GHS. “One of the goals of Meet the Pirate Night is to recognize our organization,” said Amy McCoy, president. “The booster club feels this is a great way to start the school year. It helps bring everyone together and get them in the mood for a great year.”
Also at the event, the junior class sold slushies and more to help fund prom and their future senior trip. The Galena Elks sold food to help fundraise money for the Glena Boosters Club at Meet the Pirates night. Mrs. Bookless handed out the 2024 yearbook to students. “I love to watch the kids look at their yearbooks at Meet the Pirate Night,” said Susan Bookless, the Publications teacher, “We work so hard all year to create a great yearbook and it’s awesome to see people come together and enjoy our work.”
The Boosters Club did a great job of helping bring the staff and students together before the beginning of the school year. We are super excited to see where the school year takes us!
