This past Saturday night, students danced the night away at this year’s highly anticipated Winter Formal but the evening’s highlight wasn’t just the music or the wonderful decorations and snacks, it was the iPad giveaway organized by the Student Council. Thanks to them, one lucky attendee got to walk away with a brand-new iPad, adding some suspense to an already amazing evening.
The giveaway was announced earlier in the month, and to make the contest even more exciting, the Student Council held a half-court shooting competition on Thursday, where students could earn additional entries for the raffle by sinking a half-court shot. The competition drew a crowd of enthusiastic students, all eager to increase their chances of winning.
At the end of the dance on Saturday, the moment everyone was waiting for arrived. Mrs. Rosenthal took the stage, microphone in hand, ready to draw the winning name. After a few faulty draws, cheers erupted as Quin Wells ‘25, was announced as the lucky winner. “Winter formal was a blast!” Wells said, “Winning the iPad was an obvious highlight for me because I’ve never won anything before.”
The Student Council worked tirelessly to make the night a success. “I think that the giveaway sparked some much needed hype into winter formal.” Senior Student Council President, Molly Beatle 25’ said. “It was probably the best idea we have had for the dance in a while.”
Held in the school gym, the Winter Formal featured a winter wonderland theme, complete with shimmering lights and a winter-themed photo-opp station. Student Council kept the dance floor packed all evening with a mix of top hits and some throwbacks.
While Well’s iPad win was a standout moment, students agreed that the entire night was a huge success. “It was a really fun night with great music, great company, and great snacks.” said Claudia Liberg ‘25, “Student council always puts on a good dance!”
Congratulations to Wells, and thank you to the Student Council for making this magical evening even more special!
