The Future Business Leaders of America club recently attended the state conference in Grayslake, Illinois, and returned with impressive results. The FBLA area conference was one of seven in the state of Illinois, the Galena High School went to the Northern Area one.
Our chapter sent a strong group of students to compete in a wide range of events, including data management, objective tests; Healthcare Administration, and business management. There were 47 different events the students could participate in. “There are also objective tests that either go along with the event,” Ms. Duerr stated. “Or tests that students can do before the event if they choose to not do a competitive event.”
For Data analysis, Justin Lin ‘28 and Adison Leitzinger ‘25 both placed in fifth place, for Business Management Lex Abt 27’ Sophia Wachter ‘25, and Ava Hahn ‘25 placed sixth, and in Objective Test Julia Dominiak placed fifth. Several other students received awards for their outstanding presentations and projects. “We were super nervous because we didn’t really know what we were doing,” said Leitzinger.
With this, the conference provided the students with valuable opportunities and allowed them to gain real-world experience in business and leadership. The students learned new skills, built confidence, and developed a deeper understanding of the business world. “This was a great experience for the students,” said Duerr.
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the conference and had placed. A big thank you to Ms. Duerr for letting this group of young smart students experience this amazing opportunity. If you wish to join FBLA contact Ms. Duerr. They will compete at the state level in Springfield on March 28 and 29.
