Galena JV Triumphs in Conference Debut

Galena Junior Varsity Pirates easily dispatched Warren Junior Varsity Warhawks on Wednesday, 14-1.

Warren Junior Varsity Warhawks opened the scoring in the first after Gaige Stocks singled, scoring one run.

Galena Junior Varsity Pirates jumped into the lead in the bottom of the first when Brycen Sincock drew a walk, scoring one run, one run scored on another play, and Landen Lange grounded out, scoring one run.

A walk by Jose Hernadez-Garcia, a single by Owen Berning, and an error helped Galena Junior Varsity Pirates extend their early lead in the second.

Galena Junior Varsity Pirates scored six runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Brant Romer was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Owen Berning singled, scoring one run, and Dillon Belken tripled, scoring four runs.

Landen Lange earned the win for the Galena Junior Varsity Pirates. The hurler allowed two hits and one run over five innings, striking out seven and walking two. Gaige Stocks took the loss for Warren Junior Varsity Warhawks. The starting pitcher went three and one-third innings, allowing 12 runs (seven earned) on five hits, striking out six and walking four.

Dillon Belken drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Galena Junior Varsity Pirates with three runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Owen Berning led the Galena Junior Varsity Pirates with two hits in three at-bats. Galena Junior Varsity Pirates turned one double play in the game.

Slayten Shockey and Gaige Stocks each collected one hit for Warren Junior Varsity Warhawks. Gaige Stocks led the Warren Junior Varsity Warhawks with one run batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-2 on the day.
